UC Davis Biomedical Engineering Assistant Professor Cheemeng Tan Named a 2018 Young Innovator by Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering (CMBE)

The UC Davis Biomedical Engineering Department congratulates Dr. Cheemeng Tan on being named a 2018 Young Innovator by Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering (CMBE).

Now in their fifth year, the recognitions honor junior faculty performing major and impactful biomedical-engineering research. Nominees self-submit curriculum vitae and abstracts for full-length manuscripts to be judged and honorees chosen. Tan’s full-length manuscript and the manuscripts of nine other Young Innovators will be featured in the forthcoming October 2018 special issue of CMBE — the official journal of the Biomedical Engineering Society. Honorees also will receive special recognition at the society’s annual meeting taking place in Atlanta October 17 – 20.

Tan’s research focuses on the engineering of artificial-cellular systems, novel strategies of antibiotic treatment and underlying mechanisms of cellular heterogenity. He received his Ph.D. from Duke University in 2010, his M.S. in High Performance Computation for Engineered Systems from Singapore-MIT Alliance in 2002 and his B.E. (First-Class Honor) from National University of Singapore in 2001.

Congratulations, Cheemeng!
